David Matumika Banda

Board Chairperson

David is a seasoned legal professional with more than 15 years of experience in the field. Presently, he holds the position of Director of Legal Services at the Malawi Electoral Commission. His extensive expertise was further honed during his tenure as the Vice President of the Malawi Law Society, where he served from February 2017 to February 2018.

David earned his Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Malawi. Prior to assuming his current role at the Malawi Electoral Commission, he demonstrated his legal prowess as a Senior Associate at Nyirenda & Msisha Law Office from 2009 to 2017. His contributions and commitment have been consistently recognized throughout his career.

Wongani is a Chartered Accountant with vast experience in audit and finance. She has expertise in auditing financial institutions, retail/wholesale chains, security, and manufacturing companies. She currently works as an External Auditor at Deloitte and Financial Controller at Apple Core Grain & Milling Co. 

She is a qualified Accountant (ACCA). She holds a Bachelor of Accountancy degree and a Certificate in Human Resources Management.  She is entrepreneurial having launched her own brand of honey called Wofyn’s Honey in September 2018.

Dave is a a social researcher and communications expert. His experience spans positions at Times Group, the Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust, and the University of Malawi. His passion lies in community and youth development, emphasizing indigenous and creative approaches.

With a BA in Media for Development, a MA in Community and Youth Work, as well as a PhD in Sociology, Dave contributes to the Board by supporting community engagement, communication, fundraising, project evaluation, and leveraging storytelling for positive impact.

With over 10 years of experience in the education sector, Charlotte is deeply committed to teaching and education. She has successfully spearheaded program and module innovation and development, ensuring that teaching is rooted in rigorous research and scholarly activity. Charlotte possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Charlotte’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities degree from the University of Malawi and a Master of Arts in Comparative Education from Zhejiang Normal University in China. Currently, she serves as a teacher in the Ministry of Education. She has previously worked as a part-time Lecturer at Exploits University.

Chosa Mphepo

Trustee

Chosa is an experienced Human Capital Management professional with 14 years of experience in Talent Management and Development, Organization Culture and Change Management as well as Human Capital Learning and Development. Currently working as a Learning and Development Manager for Old Mutual Malawi Limited.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Humanities, and a master’s in business administration. She holds a Leadership Development Professional Paper from Emeritus Business School. Currently, she also serves as a Council Member for Old Mutual Africa Regions Learning Council. 

 

 

Fiskani is a Biostatistician, a Lecturer at the University of Malawi, and a Research Associate at the University of Manchester. She is passionate about women and youth empowerment and development. She has over eight years of experience working with girls and youth groups promoting the pursuit of careers in STEM through the Girls in Science Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (GiSTEAM) network, an organization she co-founded.

She holds BSc and MSc degrees in Biostatistics and is pursuing a PhD. Fiskani is a fellow of the Moremi Initiative for emerging female African Leaders (MILEAD).

 

Charles Kabena

Charles is a Development Communications expert. He currently works as Communications Lead for SDG 2 Advocacy Hub. He has 11 years of rounded communications experience, including five in management at the senior level. Most recently he was Communications and External Engagement Manager at World Vision Malawi. Charles led strategic communications for World Vision’s Global Fund projects tackling Malaria, HIV/AIDS, and TB in Malawi. Prior, he worked in Communications consulting for the World Health Organization and the Malawi University of Science and Technology.

He holds a Master of Science in Communication for Development from the University of Reading (UK). a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the Blantyre International University, and a Diploma in Journalism from the Malawi Polytechnic. Charles is also the founder and team leader for DreamShare Foundation.
